Win10 Update 1803 + .NET 4.7.2 stop Rheo3000 working !

Attention:  After update of the .NET Framework 4.7.2 (since Release 461808) Rheo3000 stop working. It started with Win10 Update 1803 (Windows April Update) and later was updated on Win7 too.

Rheo3000 is still installed

  • Apply the Last Update to fix the problem on installed Rheo3000.
  • Another workaround is to roll-back/uninstall the windows update 1803.
Rheo3000 is not installed

  • Here you can download the updated Rheo3000 Installation files v2.1.1103 and start a new Installation
Rheo3000 installation aborted at last SQL Server installation step

  • After installation failed on last DB action, close Installation and other applications
  • Replace the DataManager.dll in the installation folder with that one (DataManager.dll)
  • run the Rheo3000 as Administrator again -> DB Setup should continue

General Communication Issues - Not found devices

If the software is not able to communicate to the device or thermostat it can have many reasons. Here I list some points which probably help.

  1. First check whether a COM port is available unter Windows device manager
under "Port(COM &LPT)" and without yellow exclamation mark.
    - Check cable connection
    - Search for newer driver

  2. Serial USB Adapter
The Adapters are often a problem source.
    - Update the driver (via Windows device manager)
    - Uninstall the driver, unplug the adapter, replug the adapter and install the driver again
    - Adapter using the FTDI work more stable !
Other types like "Profilic" had often problems in past.
If you want to play it safe order the adapters at Rheotec (sales@rheotec.de)

  3. Windows USB Port management
    - Try to use another USB port on PC
    - Change the port number on Windows device manager

Activation of Rheo3000

The Rheo3000 v1.2 is automatically activated for one device after standard installation.
After installation the software runs for 30 days additionally in a trial mode where every device can be controlled. If you need to control another/new device contact your vendor and we will send a license file which can be imported on the activation window - single license area -> Import License.

The Rheo3000 v2 by default NOT activated and runs in the 30 days trial mode only after the installation. In this time you should type in a activation key on the start dialog or the activation window. This key you receive from your vendor or
via the web site   http://licensing.brookfieldengineering.com/ .

Windows USB Port problem

Try following steps to solve USB connection problems.

1. Try to use another USB Port on PC

2. The USB cable should be not longer as 1.8m
Default white cable with gold contacts and Ferrit should preffered.

Be careful and probably create a full system backup before uninstall and delete devices.

3. Uninstall device/RST-Communication Port or unknown device) on device manager
    Right click -> UnInstall
Check "Delete the driver software for this device"
    Push OK
Plug off and plug in the USB cable again

4. Delete hidden devices on Windows device manager
Copy following lines in a editor and save it as e.g. ShowHiddenDevices

       set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
   cd %SystemRoot%\System32
   start devmgmt.msc

Run it under a Administrator account
Select "Show hidden devices" on the opened Windows Device Manager (Menu ->View)
Delete hidden 'gray' USB devices under Ports, Other device and
in a second step Universal Serial Bus Controllers
